About

Supporting children from early learning to youth development.

Our mission

To support children from early learning to youth development, improving the standard of living of marginalised communities in India through grassroots development initiatives that are community-led, evidence-informed, and built to last.

Our vision

A world where every child exercises their fundamental right to education, health, and wellbeing and uses that foundation to break the cycle of poverty for good. By 2031, we aim to reach 1 million children through our educational interventions across India.

From Our Founder's Desk

The story of Parinaama is deeply personal to me. I was raised in a family where social justice was more than just a concept, it was a way of life. My father, Dr. Attili Krishna Rao, was a Telugu playwright who wrote numerous plays on systemic oppression and social justice for over three decades. I grew up watching him direct and advocate for social consciousness among the people, through street theatre. That’s the world I was shaped by. When I entered the development sector, the gap between my privilege and the reality around me became impossible to ignore. After 15 years of work in several national and international organisations, I began building Parinaama in 2012. It wasn’t just a professional decision. It was a decision about purpose. This work is bigger than my journey. It requires people who share the same conviction that where you are born should not determine how far you go. Everything we do is in service of that belief.

ADVOCACY AND REACH

Parinaama works in diverse regions such as tea garden communities, tribal villages, remote agricultural settlements, and urban margins. These are places defined not by distance but by how long they have been overlooked. We have been present in many of these geographies for over a decade, building the trust that makes sustained change possible.

Our Solutions

Parinaama’s work operates through two flagship programmes. Project DreamBright works with children aged 6 to 14 to build foundational literacy and numeracy through community learning centres and trained local teachers. Project Aspire supports adolescents aged 13 to 18 through school re-enrollment, career counselling, mental health awareness, and child protection, supported by the health, livelihoods, and community mobilisation work Parinaama has been building for over a decade.

I became a teacher as I had the right guidance. I understand the value of mentorship and now I want to do the same for all the young kids including my daughter. This is my way of giving back to my village that has nurtured me for 30 years.
